Hi again,I’m actually trying out Ubuntu 9.04 on my Pismo instead for now. Same tricky video problems. Got video working, but with crazy screen before boot screen and on log off still.

Question for tubeaddict72, what model is this ? I have a 400 iMac with Firewire. tnx

  5. tubeaddict72 says:

    This one is a 266 mhz “grape” tray-loading iMac – with 2 USB 1.1 ports & ethernet/phone jacks.

Very cool video. I want to ” revive ” my iMac too ! For those who have one lying around, these iMac are great to set up for kids or grandparents on Ubuntu almost trouble free.

  7. tubeaddict72 says:

Yeah – even the latest Karmic 9.10 version has a new easy program installer. Only thing though is that there’s no Adobe Flash for PowerPC linux yet – so if kids play that club penguin or webkins (whatever they’re into now) -they might have trouble.Youtube can be viewed with a media player plugin (mozilla-plugin-vlc) & a greasemonkey script called “youtube without flash auto”. ;)

Well I installed using this method on my iMac G3 350though I can’t get the 1024×768 resolution… I added the correct modeline and everything, it just goes into virtual resolution (Still at 800×600, though you scroll around the screen to get the larger resolution). How can I fix that?

  9. lewisvz says:

but it converts it to ppc at least it worked for me or was i using virtual l box

  10. benjgvps says:

I think QEMU is needed for that.

Got something to say? Go for it!
