Thank you very much for this. I thought it was going to be difficult to get into like an apple peripheral. I’m glad to know there is no glue/clips to free first. :)

hi can i just use pliers instead of a torx screw because i don’t have to buy it?

  5. OWCmacsales says:

@shadowheart43 the proper tool to use is the torx screwdriver – see more info for where to get a toolkit that contains the tools you need. That said, in this particular case, a pair of pliers could be used for the hard drive mounting screws, but you would a. most likely scratch the screws and b. its very awkward to use a pair of pliers to turn a screw.

Have you ever opened any other laptops? RETARD this is hella easy compared to freaking HP where you have a hard drive caddy.

  7. DavidKneiber says:

@aznboi1214 hard drive caddy?dude, u unscrew 4 screws and the caddy comes offyou’re flat out ignorant.

  8. aznboi1214 says:

as apposed to this unpractical laptop that doesn’t have a caddy with fewer screws to unscrew…

Is the procedure the same for a Mid-2009 15″ MBP?

  10. OWCmacsales says:

The procedure is very close. Check out our YouTube channel for the installation video for your specific machine.
